In order to enhance the safety and efficiency of railway traffic in Bulgaria, the National Railway Infrastructure Company launched a project to modernize the signaling systems in the “Dunavtsi – Zhelyu Voyvoda” section. This key section is part of the strategically important railway infrastructure connecting major cities and industrial regions.
The project aims to optimize railway traffic management by implementing innovative technologies that will provide more reliable and up-to-date data on train movements. This modernization is focused on improving safety, efficiency, and the quality of service in the railway sector, while also creating better working conditions for train dispatchers.
SCOPE:
Our project includes the modernization of railway interlockings at several stations to establish information lines that will transmit data to the train dispatcher at Plovdiv Station. The stations covered by this project include:
o Type H-68: Dunavtsi, Kazanlak, Cherganovo, Gurkovo, Tvurditsa, Shivachevo, Gavrailovo, Zhelyu Voyvoda
o Type WSSB: Tulovo, Dabovo, Sliven
Through the implementation of innovative technologies, the project will ensure the automatic provision of up-to-date information to the dispatcher center at Plovdiv Station regarding:
o Availability and occupancy of railway tracks, non-switchable and switchable railroad sections, advance sections, and approach sections
o Status of entry, exit, and through light signals at stations and sectional posts
o Availability and occupancy of interstation areas
o Direction of automatic blocking
The project includes the transmission of information between stations and the dispatcher center, utilizing both the existing main copper cable and a future optical transmission medium.
A centralized traffic monitoring system will be designed for the Dunavtsi-Zhelyu Voyvoda railroad section. The system will operate from a single control point in the Plovdiv dispatch center, utilizing standard commercial equipment.
The project involves the development of a system for computer visualization of real-time train movement at stations and interstation areas, with precise positioning of railway vehicles in the Plovdiv dispatcher center. This specialized visualization equipment will facilitate rational decision-making for traffic regulation in the Dunavtsi – Zimnitsa and Tulovo – Stara Zagora railroad sections.
